1.1 The Prostate Cancer Genius App

In March 2023, Dr. Adam Alexander and Dr. Jordan Neil introduced the Prostate Cancer Genius App, a first-of-its-kind mobile platform designed to increase prostate cancer knowledge and improve PSA screening readiness among African American men in Oklahoma. The app combines trusted education with step-by-step guidance for home-based PSA testing, making screening information easier to understand and more accessible.

1.2 Reaching Men Where They Are

Many men delay conversations about prostate cancer because of fear, uncertainty, limited access to care, or simply not knowing where to begin. Mobile technology creates new opportunities to educate families before a doctor's appointment ever takes place, helping men make informed decisions earlier.

The project was intentionally developed to reduce health disparities by delivering culturally relevant education directly into communities that experience higher prostate cancer incidence and mortality. By meeting people where they are, researchers hope to encourage earlier conversations and earlier screening.
