Community Outreach Series with the Cherokee Nation Health Initiative
Cancer Survivorship, Caregiver Support & Community Education
May–June 2026
Throughout May and June 2026, Curt Murray, Founder of Curt Cares, Inc., had the privilege of partnering with the Cherokee Nation Health Initiative to participate in a series of community events focused on cancer survivorship, caregiver support, education, and hope.
Each event brought together survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, advocates, and community members with a shared mission—to ensure no one faces cancer alone. Through open conversations, personal testimony, practical resources, and meaningful engagement, Curt reinforced the importance of early detection, survivorship, emotional wellness, and the power of community support.
These gatherings represented more than educational programs—they were opportunities to encourage individuals and families, celebrate survivorship, recognize caregivers, and strengthen the partnerships that make healthier communities possible.

The event celebrated those who have faced cancer with courage while providing encouragement to individuals currently navigating treatment and recovery.
Participants shared personal stories of resilience, healing, and perseverance while emphasizing the importance of maintaining hope throughout the cancer journey. The gathering also highlighted the value of support networks, regular medical follow-up, emotional well-being, and community involvement after treatment.
Curt spoke about the importance of using one's survivorship journey to inspire others, reminding attendees that every survivor's story has the potential to encourage someone who may be facing one of the most difficult seasons of their life.
OSTAH Cancer Summit
June 6, 2026
The OSTAH Cancer Summit brought together healthcare professionals, public health leaders, advocates, tribal representatives, survivors, and community organizations committed to improving cancer outcomes across Oklahoma.
During the summit, Curt participated in discussions centered on education, prevention, survivorship, and increasing awareness throughout underserved communities. The event emphasized collaboration among healthcare systems, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders to improve access to screening, education, and supportive resources.
The summit reinforced a shared commitment to reducing disparities in cancer outcomes while empowering individuals to become active participants in their own health through education, early detection, and informed decision-making.
Caregivers Conference
June 15, 2026
Caregivers often become the quiet heroes of every cancer journey, providing emotional encouragement, transportation, advocacy, and daily support for loved ones during treatment and recovery.
At the Caregivers Conference, Curt joined fellow presenters in recognizing the tremendous sacrifices caregivers make while emphasizing the importance of supporting those who spend so much of their time caring for others.
Discussions focused on caregiver wellness, managing stress and burnout, communication within families, available community resources, and the importance of ensuring caregivers also receive the support they need to remain healthy physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
The conference served as an important reminder that caring for caregivers ultimately strengthens outcomes for cancer survivors and their families.
Muldrow Survivorship Hour
June 30, 2026
Muldrow, Oklahoma
Curt concluded the outreach series by participating in the Muldrow Survivorship Hour, where survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and community members gathered to celebrate resilience and encourage continued hope following a cancer diagnosis.
The event provided a welcoming environment for attendees to share experiences, build new relationships, and learn about available resources that support long-term survivorship. Conversations emphasized that survivorship extends well beyond treatment and includes physical health, emotional healing, mental wellness, healthy lifestyles, and maintaining strong connections with family and community.
Curt encouraged attendees to continue having important health conversations within their families and communities, reminding everyone that awareness, education, and early action can save lives.
